The Ross Priory Group for Research on Broadcast Talk,
formed in 1992, is an interdisciplinary group comprising researchers
from media and cultural studies, linguistics, discourse analysis
and conversation analysis who share a common interest in the nature
of broadcast talk. The seminar provides a forum for discussion
of current thinking and research in media discourse, from a range
of cross-disciplinary theoretical and methodological perspectives,
and work originating from these seminars has been widely published.
Individual papers have appeared in journals ranging across the
academic fields of media, discourse and sociolinguistics, as well
as collectively in special editions of Text 17
(2) 1997, Discourse Studies 3 (4) 2001
and The Communication Review, (Vol. 4,
2001), as well as in a recent edited collection on Talk Shows:
Tolson (ed) (2001) The TV Talk Show: Discourse, Performance,
Spectacle. (Erlbaum).
Thought the list of affiliated members is long,
some fifteen members have formed the core of the group: these
are highlited in bold
in the list of recent members below. More information about the
research seminar can be found on this
